Hospital admits liability for failures during management of Mrs S' labour resulted in a stillborn baby.

Hospital admits liability for failures during management of Mrs S' labour resulted in a stillborn baby.

A member of our medical negligence solicitor panel acted for Mrs S after her baby was stillborn as a result of negligent treatment she received from Barking, Havering and Redbridge NHS Foundation Trust. Mrs S had a complication-free pregnancy and attended the hospital on her due date. Her labour did not progress and she was induced and told to notify midwives immediately once contractions commenced.

When she started experiencing contractions, Mrs S and her husband called repeatedly for midwives to come and attend to her. However, it was a further 2 hours and 20 minutes before any help arrived. By this time the umbilical cord was found to have prolapsed in front of the baby's head, and the baby died as a result of compression of the umbilical cord between her head and the dilating cervix during contractions.

A member of our specialist solicitor panel were able to secure a compensation payment of £40,000.00 for Mrs S and her family and help them in coming to terms with their tragic loss.
